It is the latest channel to be launched by the Natıonal Geographıc Society. It first launched in Hong Kong and Singapore<span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span> on August 10, 2006, focusing primarily on&nbsp;<span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span>wildlife and natural history programming. The channel later launched in the United Kingdom, Turkey<span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span>, Republic of Irelang, Romania,&nbsp;<span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span>Italy and Vietnam replacing the now defunct <span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span>Adventure one. The channel remains the world's first bilingual<span style="text-decoration: underline;"></span> wildlife service, available in English and Cantonese in the Hong Kong market.<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Ireland" target="_blank" class="pageLinks"><br></a><h2><span>Programming</span></h2><p>Nat Geo Wild programming is sourced from various agencies, includingUK and European distributors, terrestrial joint productions andNational Geographic Television productions.All programs are based on natural wildlife and wildlife history, with aheavy focus on natures most fierce predators. Both the UK and Asianversions of the channel include programming focusing on wildlife intheir local areas.
